Denmark | Prime Minister “hit” by man in Copenhagen

(Copenhagen) Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was attacked by a man on Friday in a square in Copenhagen, her services announced, adding that the attacker had been arrested.


“Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was hit by a man on Friday evening on Kultorvet in Copenhagen. The man was arrested,” said a statement from his services, adding that Mr.me Frederiksen was “shocked by the incident”.

Copenhagen police confirmed that an incident involving the prime minister had occurred, but did not provide further details.

“One person has been arrested in this case, which is currently under investigation. At this time, we have no further comments or remarks to make,” police said in a statement published on X.

“I have to say that this upsets those of us who are close to her,” Danish Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke said in a social media post. “Such a thing must not happen in our beautiful, safe and free country.”

The attack is “revolting”, reacted the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, judging that “the violence [n’avait] no place in politics.

Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, declared himself “outraged” and indicated, in a message on the social network Sunday in the European elections.
