The article entitled “Biron maintains that “person with a vagina” is a “controversial” expression” (The dutyJune 5, 2024) cites the following words spoken by the leader of the Parti Québécois, Mr. Paul St-Pierre Plamondon:
“Let us remember that the judiciary has a duty of reserve, and that it is not up to the judiciary to play politics. The judge [Richard] Wagner, when he tells elected officials what can or cannot be said, and when he himself creates disinformation by suggesting that we did not read the judgment before making a decision, he greatly exceeds its duty of reserve,” said the PQ elected official on Tuesday.
For my part, I would like to remind you that the legislative power also has a duty of reserve and that by calling the judicial power into question, without valid reason, Martine Biron, Minister responsible for the Status of Women, and Mr. St-Pierre Plamondon weakens the entire system, which suits those who try to circumvent or destroy it very well. Mr. St-Pierre Plamondon is only playing petty politics. This is not what I expect from the leader of the Parti Québécois.
