Three days before the European elections, Thursday June 6, Emmanuel Macron will grant an exclusive interview to France 2 and TF1 in their 8 p.m. news, the two channels announced, Sunday June 2, in a joint press release. On the occasion of the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the Head of State will answer questions live from journalists Anne-Sophie Lapix (France 2) and Gilles Bouleau (TF1), from Caen (Calvados), where he is taking part in several commemorative ceremonies.
The President of the Republic will speak on this event, as well as on international news, in particular the conflicts in Ukraine and in the Gaza Strip, after expressing his support on Saturday for the global agreement on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. This exclusive interview will also be broadcast live on franceinfo channel 27, franceinfo.fr, france.tv, TF1 Info and LCI channel 26.
The presidential intervention could spark a new debate on its counting by the audiovisual regulator, Arcom, as speaking time for the Renaissance list in the European campaign. The boss of the Republicans, Eric Ciotti, announced on Sunday on X that his party was going to seize Arcom. “The opposition must have the same speaking time”, he demanded. Fabien Roussel, boss of the Communist Party, also reacted onno one is fooled. Macron invites himself to the 8 p.m. show of the two biggest TV channels three days before the Europeans,” he writes, also demanding that this interview be deducted from the speaking time of the Renaissance list.
