77th Cannes Film Festival | Meryl Streep awarded an honorary Palme d’Or

(Cannes) Hollywood legend Meryl Streep received Tuesday evening, during the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival, an honorary Palme d’Or which immortalizes her “indelible place in the history of cinema”.

“You changed the way we see women in the world of cinema […] you gave us a new image of ourselves,” declared actress Juliette Binoche without being able to hold back her tears before presenting Meryl Streep with the honorary prize.

“The Queen Meryl”, 74 years old, has already collected almost all the distinctions, including a record 21 Oscar nominations and 3 golden statuettes, but had not come to Cannes for 35 years.

“I’m just so happy that you didn’t get tired of my apple,” said the actress, moved behind her glasses and dressed in an ivory draped dress.
