A fire in the offices of public finance

The demonstration, which began at 3 p.m., brought together 7,000 people, before degenerating around the prefecture, said the prefectural services. Nearly 300 hooded individuals threw molotov cocktails, cobblestones or agricultural bombs towards the building, the police or the community of Corsica.

Very sporadic clashes took place all afternoon, for just under six hours, noted a franceinfo journalist present on the spot. After starting in front of the prefecture, they continued between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. in various places in Bastia, on the port or near the post office. The demonstrators notably succeeded in entering the public finance building and starting a fire there. Two floors of the building were damaged.
