500 home helpers are missing in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

The home help sector is short of hands. This is the case in Côte d’Or. To make the job more attractive, the UNA, the National Union for Home Help and Care, made 22 proposals to the government. We are this Monday with the president of this federation in Bourgogne Franche-Comté.

Paul Coizet. Hello. In the middle of August, your federation had launched an appeal on the lack of home help in Burgundy. Has it gotten a little better since then?

the situation has stabilized a little since we are no longer in the summer period, with the necessary holidays and replacements. But the problem of the attractiveness of our recruitment professions naturally persists. It is estimated that at least 500 people will be recruited in the coming months.

What makes the job unattractive in your opinion at the moment?

These are poorly considered, unrecognized professions. However, a good or a beautiful and noble profession, with a very strong human dimension. There is a material problem, of financing, of salaries, of charging for the kilometers they do each day with their vehicle.

The UNA therefore makes 22 proposals to try to improve things, both for home helpers and for patients. If there were two to remember, the two most important, the two most urgent in any case, according to you, which ones would they be?

One of the major problems is the rest to be borne. When you invoice, there is a remainder to be paid for by the person. So it is absolutely necessary to control this remaining charge so as not to penalize our users. There is a problem of governance, at the national level. But the major problem, the major problem, is the attractiveness of the professions and therefore with the need for very large recruitment groups, almost 400,000 people in France in the next five years and therefore the working conditions. You should know that we are dealing with half-hour splits. What to do tomorrow when we have half an hour to provide basic services? And then with the problems of mobility, of displacement between each intervention.
