A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck northeastern and central Colombia, including the capital Bogota, on Sunday morning, but no casualties or material damage have been reported at this stage, authorities said.
The earthquake, whose epicenter is in the city of Los Santos (northeast), occurred at 10:45 a.m. local time (1545 GMT) at a depth of 152 kilometers, said the Colombian Geological Services Agency on Twitter.
“There is currently no report of victims of the earthquake,” said Colombian President Gustavo Petro, also on Twitter.
According to testimonies published on the social network, the earthquake was strongly felt in Bogota (center) and in Bucaramanga, near the epicenter where one of the main geological faults of the country is located.
Nearly thirty minutes after the earthquake, an aftershock of magnitude 3.6 was recorded in the northeast of the country, said the geological agency.
