490 new cases of COVID-19 in Quebec

Quebec reported 490 new cases of COVID-19 and six additional deaths on Tuesday.

Of the new cases, 285 were people who had not been vaccinated or received a single dose less than 14 days ago, 16 had only received a single dose at least 14 days ago, and 189 had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

The province’s death toll is now 426,947 people infected and 11,502 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

250 hospitalizations were reported Tuesday, an increase of six compared to the day before. Of these patients, 71 are in intensive care, an increase of four.

Twenty-two people entered the hospital on Monday. Of these, 16 were unvaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago and six had received a second dose at least seven days ago. Of seven people who entered intensive care, two were unvaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago and five had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

A total of 21,437 samples were taken on October 31.

With regard to vaccination, 10,063 doses were administered in the last 24 hours in the province, for a total of 13,260,203. Outside Quebec, 218,723 doses were received by Quebecers.

According to the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec, 79.3% of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19. Among those 12 years and older, 90.6% have received at least one dose and 87.9% are adequately vaccinated.
