458 new cases of COVID-19 in Quebec

Quebec reported 458 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths on Wednesday.

Of the new cases, 305 are people who were unvaccinated or only received a single dose less than 14 days ago, nine had only received a single dose at least 14 days ago and 144 had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

The provincial toll is now 420,929 people infected since the start of the pandemic, of which 404,640 have recovered, as well as 11,455 deaths.

287 hospitalizations were reported on Wednesday, a drop of ten compared to the day before. Of these patients, 72 are in intensive care, a decrease from three.

Twelve people entered hospital on Tuesday: eight were unvaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago and four had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

A total of 30,818 samples were taken on October 18.

Regarding vaccination, 9,189 doses were administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec, for a total of 13,117,890. To these doses are added the 209,384 received by Quebecers outside the province.

According to the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec, 79% of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19. Among those 12 years and older, 90.2% have received at least one dose of vaccine and 87.2% are adequately vaccinated.
