Around 2,000 visitors had to be evacuated on Wednesday December 20 from the Palace of Versailles (Yvelines) after a bomb threat, franceinfo learned from a source close to the matter.
On his accountthe Palace of Versailles confirms this evacuation without specifying the reason: “For security reasons, the Palace of Versailles is evacuating visitors and will reopen as soon as checks have been carried out. We thank you for your understanding”.
Contacted by Agence Radio France, the castle’s press service confirmed the bomb alert, and specified that the evacuation is now complete and that it took place peacefully. The police are currently on site.
In October, the Palace of Versailles had to be evacuated at least seven times in just over a week because of false bomb threats. A man was sentenced to eight months in prison for one of the alerts.
