The actor, director and teacher, Roland Laroche died Friday in Montreal, at the age of 94, following a long illness.

A man of theater and opera, he is the co-founder of the Théâtre de l’Égrégore, with François Berd, for which he will adapt in the 1960s several plays by classical European authors and also from the avant-garde.
At the turn of the 1970s, Roland Laroche was associated with the Center for Dramatic Authors (CEAD), then he worked for the TNM, the Rideau Vert and the Quat’Sous. He has played and staged several creations by Quebec authors such as Jacques Languriand (The Great Departures), Robert Gurick (The hanged man). He taught acting and directing for a long time, first at the National Theater School of Canada, then at Cégep Lionel-Groulx in Sainte-Thérèse.
As an actor, he has starred in several television shows. Of The surprise box to Beautiful stories from the countries abovevia soap operas like Virginie, with a capital A and The Little Homeland. In the cinema, we could see the actor in films like A few acres of snow (directed by Denis Héroux) and The Frog and the Whale (directed by Jean-Claude Lord).
He leaves to mourn his wife, the producer and organizer of cultural events, Hélène Stevens, as well as several comrades from the theater world; including the writer Michel Tremblay.
