A 15-year-old young man was shot dead in Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône), around 10 p.m. Sunday, on the public highway, in the Griffeuille district, franceinfo learned from a police source. He was reportedly targeted by shots from a car around 10 p.m. The teenager died in hospital. He was unknown to the police.
The judicial police of Marseilles were seized. The investigation is currently moving towards a settling of accounts against the backdrop of drug trafficking. The police had already intervened in the neighborhood the previous weekend for shots, against a backdrop of traffic.
Since the beginning of the year, 16 people have been shot dead, against a background of drug trafficking, in the Bouches-du-Rhône. If most of the traffic is concentrated in Marseille, the second largest city in France, other cities in the department are also affected, such as Arles (53,000 inhabitants).
