Twelve months suspended prison sentence was requested by the public prosecutor on Friday April 8 at the appeal trial of judo coach Alain Schmitt, tried for domestic violence on the night of November 28, 2021 on Olympic champion Margaux Pinot. The prosecutor also requests a ban on seeing the victim and an internship against domestic violence.

These are the same requisitions as at first instance, in immediate appearance before the Bobigny court on November 30, 2021, during which Alain Schmitt was released. A decision that had caused controversy, the judoka Margaux Pinot publishing a photo of her swollen face on social networks.

In his submissions to the appeal trial, the prosecutor regretted “evolutionary explanations” by Alain Schmitt and Margaux Pinot. Nevertheless, “if we examine the lesions found on the two protagonists”he estimates that “what Madame Pinot describes globally is largely confirmed by medical findings”. “If we look at the injuries, we have enough evidence to recognize Mr. Schmitt’s responsibility for the violence.”
