The prefecture of Dordogne indicates Tuesday, November 15 that the State pays 10 million euros in compensation to actors in the poultry sector in the department, including around 7 million euros to breeders, for their loss of activity and health measures, linked to the episode of avian flu which has affected France since the end of 2021.

300 farms in the Dordogne have been affected by bird flu for a year, with restrictive measures for many of them.

59 farms where an outbreak was declared underwent stamping out and 20 others had a “preventive depopulation”. These 79 breeders whose herd has been decimated have already received 3.7 million euros for health measures: the remaining balance must be allocated to them after the last expertise scheduled for November 22. Nearly 300 breeders also received 3.2 million euros to compensate for their production losses.

Compensation is also allocated to the department’s four hatching workshops, egg producers, cutting slaughter companies and specialized services (transport, food supplies). 2.7 million euros must therefore be paid in January 2023.
