“The national school feeding program is a game-changer. It will help alleviate the pressure families feel, invest directly in our children’s futures and ensure they are happy, healthy and able to reach their full potential,” explained by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a press release.

In the eyes of the Liberal leader, providing meals to children is a question of “fairness” between children.

“We are establishing a national school feeding program because children learn better when they have a full stomach,” added the Minister of Families and Children, Jenna Sudds.

The measure will be officially announced in the budget to be tabled on April 16 by Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland.

The content of the budget is currently being pieced together little by little by the government, which notably announced its intention to invest in daycare spaces last week.
