What are the Golden Joystick Awards?
The GJAs are cherished for being determined by players themselves—those who actively buy and engage with video games. Each year, millions of enthusiasts cast their votes for their favorite games, developers, publishers, and notable figures from the past 12 months.
Celebrating its 42nd edition, the Golden Joystick Awards will return as a live in-person event at the De Vere Connaught Rooms in London on November 21, 2024.
How are games nominated for the Golden Joystick Awards?
Before voting kicks off, the judging panel for the Golden Joysticks assembles to develop a shortlist of nominees. This panel includes editors and contributors from our affiliated brands, such as PC Gamer, FGS, Edge magazine, Retro Gamer, and GamesRadar, as well as various industry specialists.
The judges’ preliminary list of nominees is merged with submissions from publishers collected through an online form. This year’s judging process was highly competitive, resulting in one of the most varied and comprehensive shortlists we’ve ever produced.
