Zoofest: Sam Cyr and Marylène Gendron bring their podcast “Everyone hates each other” on stage for the 100th episode

This summer, comedians Sam Cyr and Marylène Gendron take their podcast to the stage Everyone hates each other on two occasions. First stop: Zoofest for recording the 100e episode.

Marylène Gendron does not hide it: she expected to do at most twenty episodes of Everyone hates each other. It must be said that the concept of their podcast is to say the least singular: each week, Sam Cyr and she invite a public figure to confess their complexes at their microphone, without detour and above all without taboo.

“I really thought we were going to do the trick, that it was going to run out of steam super quickly. But it’s crazy how much we can renew ourselves, that people always come with new complexes!” she says laughing.

A question of connection

Over the 99 episodes already recorded, the Marie-Claude Barrette, Roxane Bruneau, Rita Baga, Debbie Lynch-White, Martin Matte and other Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais have lent themselves to the exercise, revealing their complexes at the microphone of Sam Cyr and Marylene Gendron. And their words visibly resonated with listeners, with positive comments swarming as much on social media as on YouTube and Patreon pages. Everyone hates each other.

These – combined with the Olivier for the best podcast won last year – encouraged the two accomplices to continue the adventure.

“At first, we did the podcast for our own benefit. It did us good to free ourselves from our complexes, to talk about it without taboo. It’s very therapeutic. But through the episodes, we saw how much the connection was made with our guests as well as with the public, so we decided to continue. And there, we no longer want to stop, ”says Sam Cyr.

Surprise guests

And no, they won’t stop. In fact, Sam Cyr and Marylène Gendron confirm their intention to transpose the universe of Everyone hates each other on stagestarting with the event scheduled for Friday evening for the recording of this 100e episode. If the premise remains the same, the atmosphere is transformed by this passage to the boards.

“It creates a more explosive atmosphere. As the public is present on site, it quickly turns into a show more than a discussion: we want to create a link with them and make them laugh. So to get their attention, we really go all in“says Sam Cyr.

Who will play the game this time? Difficult to say, the two accomplices keen to conceal the identity of their two guests. However, we know that Pier-Luc Funk will join them on stage in the role of the jester.

  • The recording of the 100e episode of Everyone hates each other will take place Friday evening at 8 p.m. at the Saint-James United Church in Montreal. Another episode will be recorded on August 18, at the Impérial Bell in Quebec.
