Zoo addresses to introduce your children to animals

This text is part of the special notebook It’s Summer

Small and large animals are always very popular with families during the hot season! Here are some places to note if you want to spend time with our animal friends during your summer vacation.

Safari Park

For the first time in more than five decades of history, the adventure will now be provided exclusively by bush trucks, and no longer by customers’ cars at the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle Safari Park in Montérégie. This decision, which demonstrates ecological concern, will give you the impression of taking part in a real African safari! We thus offer an immersion in wild nature, through 300 lions, giraffes and other cheetahs in freedom, aboard one of the nine silent electric vehicles, without vibration or polluting emissions. Note that the vans are adapted to accommodate wheelchairs. Until October 27

Granby Zoo

Amazoo animal park, rides and water slides are of course still in place at the Granby Zoo, in the Eastern Townships. The establishment recently launched the Mission Faune program, through which 11 million will be invested by 2030 to defend and protect biodiversity. Various initiatives, such as educational workshops with animal care experts, on site and in schools, will be implemented in this regard. Until September 2

Ecomuseum Zoo

Ready to become champions of biodiversity, wildlife athletes? At the Ecomuseum Zoo, in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue on the island of Montreal, the 2024 ZOOlympics will put your knowledge to the test. And this, through a host of challenges: presentations with tests, physical games, meetings with animals, under different themes. Which species has the sharpest eyesight, or which would win the high jump test? Get a chance to win a gift basket worth $50.June 22 to August 31

Saint-Félicien Wild Zoo

In Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, the Saint-Félicien Wild Zoo offers a multitude of attractive activities for your little zoologist apprentices: photo safari, magical evenings after opening hours (hiking and campfire), tours private guided tours and budding cook workshop. The latter allows visitors to slip into the shoes of a technician and experience the routine of preparing the animals’ food and toys. All summer

Familizoo

In Saint-Calixte, in Lanaudière, the Familizoo houses more than 350 animals from exotic wildlife and Canadian wildlife, on a journey of around two hours in nature. The proximity to the “residents” is very enviable and a wealth of information is offered. A magical castle, a haunted mansion, a water park as well as a multitude of other surprises (inflatable games, mini-golf, etc.) complete the facilities. High season from June 22 to September 2

Biopark

In Gaspésie, in Bonaventure, the Bioparc offers thematic days, which add to the pleasure of observing around forty animal species native to Quebec. It celebrates insects, crustaceans, ecosystems (bay, barachois, river, forest, tundra) and, later in the fall, mushrooms and the forest larder. On Wednesdays and Fridays in July and August, with your children aged 5 and over, spend a night in a trapper’s cabin listening to the calls of wolves and coyotes, rustic dinner included. June 2 to October 14
