Zone outing, season 4 | Episode 59: Round table at the maple grove

For the first time, the podcast was on the road! Antoine Roussel welcomed the Exit zone team to the Au sucre d’or maple grove, of which he is co-owner, in Laterrière in Saguenay.

Our journalists Guillaume Lefrançois and Simon-Olivier Lorange therefore discussed hockey, in front of the public gathered at the sugar shack, along with Jérémie Rainville and Martin McGuire, from 98.5 FM. Many thanks to the many listeners who came at the invitation of Cogeco and Antoine Roussel, and who were also generous in their questions and comments.

The fate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils was discussed. Our panelists also wondered if Mark Stone’s almost “magical” return to Vegas didn’t expose the limits of the salary cap imposed on league teams.

At the end of the episode, Antoine Roussel returned to his career which saw him leave France as a teenager and spend almost a decade in the NHL before ending up in Laterrière, in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.

They are a few springs away from competing with these teams. I don’t think the Canadiens are going to be in the playoffs next year, and I would be surprised in two years, but in three years, it’s a team like the Senators or the Devils this year, they’re going to learn a blow in the series. I don’t want to measure on a football field, because it’s not impossible that someone calls Kent Hughes and says: “We want to play in Montreal.”

Martin McGuire

It’s inevitable that it will be in Montreal, but I don’t know if the Canadiens won’t want to be more cautious with a not very expensive contract, after his half-season, or if we’re going to bet on his efficiency for a contract at long term beneficial to both sides. But it is clear and clear to me that Rafaël Harvey-Pinard is a member of the Canadiens.
