Zone outing, season 4 | Episode 19: the memories of Pierre Gervais

Pierre Gervais tells his story without filter in a book that looks back on his 35 years in the locker room of the Montreal Canadiens, as equipment manager. If the book written by colleague Mathias Brunet made a lot of noise, especially the more critical portions of Max Pacioretty and Dominique Ducharme, Gervais denies wanting to settle scores.

Guest on the podcast Area exit, “Gerv” specifies that his objective was above all to tell the truth, the whole truth, and to tell what happened in the locker room. However, he made a point of never saying anything personal, and rather sticking to his observations.

While some come off worse than others, Gervais also takes the opportunity to pay tribute to the leadership of Shea Weber, Carey Price and Corey Perry, the trio that pushed the Canadian to the Stanley Cup final. A leadership that reminded him of that of Bob Gainey, whom he rubbed shoulders with at the start of his career. Gervais also tells an anecdote, which is not in the book, about the mysterious disappearance of metal spoons.

Also on the menu, our panelists Simon-Olivier Lorange, Guillaume Lefrançois and Stéphane Waite are trying to answer host Jérémie Rainville’s question: has the Canadian found his first center in Nick Suzuki?

Pierre Gervais, about the arrival of Martin St-Louis with the Canadiens
