Zone exit, season 3 | Episode 23: Guardian Questions in Montreal

Hockey conversations in Montreal often revolve around goalies. Looks like we’re not doing it! In our episode today, three masked men grab our attention.

Posted at 5:26 p.m.

The first is Patrick Roy. He may have hung up his leg warmers 18 years ago, but his name has come up at the heart of discussions in the Canadiens’ round of interviews. If he’s not hired as general manager, could he stand a chance as head coach? Stéphane Waite is the only one who believes so.

If Roy is not general manager at the end of the process, I do not see him occupying another role in the short or medium term.

Simon-Olivier Lorange

Could he be a candidate to be a coach after Dominique Ducharme?

Jeremiah Rainville

For me, totally, yes. He’s a good coach, he proved it in Colorado, even though he hasn’t been there for long. He left on his own, but he did quite a job when he was there. The Jack-Adams, he did not find it in a box of Cracker Jack.

Stephane Waite

The second masked man who gets people talking is Carey Price. His state of health is still nebulous, but his future will be increasingly analyzed. Should the Canadian get rid of it to really start its reconstruction? And is the player himself ready to be part of a team that is a few years away from aspiring to a title?

The Calgary Flames since the departure of Miikka Kiprusoff, it’s been a long time, it was in 2013, they have spent 17 different goalies since that time. Buffalo Sabers Ryan Miller left in 2014, they passed 19 goalies. The Sabers, in their efforts, it went without saying to trade Ryan Miller, but they never recovered. That’s a number one goalie, when you’ve had him for a long time, you maybe take him a little bit for granted.

Guillaume Lefrançois

And the third one that caught our attention? Marc-André Fleury, whose name will feed the good old rumor machine in the coming weeks.

In this podcast episode Zone exit, a collaboration between Press and the 98.5, the host Jérémie Rainville receives Stéphane Waite, Simon-Olivier Lorange and Guillaume Lefrançois.
