In London, more than 50,000 knife attacks have been reported in one year. From Tuesday, September 24, a law will prohibit the possession of machetes and “zombie” knives.

The English police have declared war on zombie knives, which are responsible for nearly 250 deaths in 2023, and 140 attacks per day on average. Weapons that are easy to obtain on the internet, but are now banned. Owners had until Monday, September 23 to get rid of them without risk of prosecution.

In theory, these weapons have been banned since 2016. However, a legal loophole allowed the knives to continue to be sold, which did not have any messages inciting violence printed on them. Sealed boxes have been installed around the city to encourage restitution.
