Zinédine Zidane, José Mourinho, Luis Figo and Carlo Ancelotti notably gathered in a “football council” created by UEFA

UEFA has decided to set up a “football council” bringing together twenty personalities, including Zinédine Zidane, José Mourinho or Carlo Ancelotti, responsible for formulating proposals on the evolution of the game, AFP learned from the European body, Friday 7 April.

Called “UEFA football board”, this structure was validated by the executive committee of the European Confederation which met on Tuesday in Lisbon and will hold its first meeting on April 24 in Nyon, on the sidelines of the Youth League final. It will have to reflect on changes in the regulations or concerning the organization of football. Ideas that can then be transformed into “bills”.

This council will be led by the former Croatian playmaker of AC Milan Zvonimir Boban, director of professional football at UEFA, who will have at his side the Italian Roberto Rosetti, the head of the referees of the instance. In addition to Boban, Zidane, Mourinho and Ancelotti, this structure will include other big names in the discipline, in particular the Dutchman Ronald Koeman, the Dane Michael Laudrup, the Czech Petr Cech, the Germans Jürgen Klinsmann, Rudi Völler and Philipp Lahm, the Portuguese Luis Figo, the Italians Paolo Maldini and Fabio Capello, or the Englishman Gareth Southgate.
