Zinédine Zidane appeared very moved this Monday, June 19 by inaugurating a home for end-of-life children of which he is the godfather, in Istres, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, noted France Bleu Provence.
The 1998 world champion took part in the presentation of the Maison du Point Rose, a medical facility of which he is the sponsor. The site will welcome children at the end of their life, suffering from cancer, and their families in Istres, on the 27 hectares of the Conclué estate.
With tears in his voice, the former international footballer said: “For me it’s a bit hard because I have children who are healthy, so it’s complicated for me, but I can tell you just one thing: I’m proud to be able to sponsor your project, you have chosen the right person.“
The construction of the nursing home will begin at the end of 2023
At the podium, “Zizou” did not hide his tears and he spoke of the pain of his parents, after losing his brother. “I will fully support you. And I will do everything to support this project and all these families“, he concluded.

The Le Point Rose association was created in 2015 by Nathalie Paoli. The former head of the OM press service was bereaved by the death of her daughter Carla-Marie, at the age of nine, carried away by a brain stem tumor. The construction site of this nursing home will begin at the end of 2023, before welcoming the first families in 2025, indicates France Bleu Provence.
