Direction Los Angeles to the 74th Emmy Awards ceremony which celebrate the best of American television. A 5-star cast was invited, sometimes to receive prizes, sometimes to present them. Among them, Selma Blair, Selena Gomez, Pete Davidson, Kim Kardashian’s ex, Sofia Vergara of “Modern Family”, among others. Two superstars caught our attention, one from television, the other from music, it’s about Zendaya and Lizzo. What did they have in common last night? Their crazy outfits. For Lizzo, XXL dress with red frills. And for Zendaya, an ultra-glamorous strapless black dress. Which she swapped for a sculptural red dress to go to the after party.
The two stars did not go unnoticed. Starting with Zendaya, queen of the evening for her big victory. The 26-year-old actress won ‘Best Actress in a Drama Series’ for her role in ‘Euphoria’. This is the second year in a row that she has won this award, last year she was the first black actress to hold it. Today, a new record: she is the youngest actress to win two Emmys and the first black woman to win the Emmy for lead actress in a drama series twice.
“My biggest wish for ‘Euphoria’ was that it could help heal people, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who shared their story with me,” she said. “I want you to know that anyone who loved a Rue or felt like a Rue, I’m so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me and carry them with her. Thanks a lot”she said very moved.
Lizzo meanwhile won the Emmy for Best Show for “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” a series Amazon which documents his search for dancers. “When I was a little girl, all I wanted was to see myself in the media – someone fat like me, black like me, beautiful like me,” an emotional Lizzo said when she took the stage to accept the award. If I could go back and say something to little Lizzo, I would say: “You’re going to see this person, but, s****e, it will have to be you”she said as she received her award.
