Defenseman Zdeno Chara announced his retirement on Tuesday after 24 seasons in the NHL.

Chara announced on his Instagram account that he will sign a one-day contract with the Boston Bruins to retire as a member of the team he played with for 14 seasons.
The 45-year-old Slovak also played with the Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals and New York Islanders.
Chara won the Stanley Cup as captain of the Bruins in 2011. He received the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman in 2011.
