Zayn Malik has opened up about his argument with his daughter’s grandmother in 2021.

The British singer split from Gigi Hadid, the mother of his two-year-old daughter Khai, in September 2021 after he was accused of pushing the model’s mother against a chest of drawers and shouting slurs at her. He denied hitting Yolanda Hadid and called the allegations ‘false’, but ultimately ‘agreed not to challenge (the) claims’ in court, in a bid to protect the ‘safe and private place’ in which Khai is growing.
Reflecting on her reaction to the alleged incident, the 30-year-old star offered more details.
“I knew what the situation was, I knew what happened and the people involved also knew what happened. That’s all I cared about. If anyone in their right mind was looking at the situation, I think you might respect the fact that I just didn’t want to draw attention to anything. I wasn’t trying to get into a negative back and forth with her or (create) stories online that my daughter would see, read and interpret (…) It was no use” , explained Zayn Malik on Wednesday (July 12, 23), in the Call Her Daddy podcast.
The former One Direction singer noted that he wanted this story to stay in the family instead of creating a lot of negativity online. “I think I treated him in the best way, in a friendly and respectful way and that’s all there is to say,” he added. If something happens in the family, I prefer to keep it in the family, we don’t need a whole audience of people and opinions. It’s hard enough to handle together. »
Zayn Malik also confirmed that he and Gigi Hadid share joint custody of Khai and that he does not require supervised visitation. “It’s intense, I take care of my child whenever I can. If I could have 60% (custody) I would have it,” he said.
As for knowing where he is with the model, he confided: “Co-parenting is good. We have a very good relationship with Khai. »
At the time, the Pillowtalk singer did not contest four counts of harassment and was given 360 days probation. Zayn Malik was also ordered to take an anger management and domestic violence course and have no contact with Yolanda Hadid.
