Zach Ertz agrees with the Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have reached an agreement with tight end Zach Ertz, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press Monday evening.

The source spoke anonymously because there has been no official announcement.

In the 2018 Super Bowl, Ertz caught the touchdown pass that gave the Philadelphia Eagles the lead, who would go on to defeat the New England Patriots.

He set the single-season record for catches at his position with 116 in 2018, with the Eagles.

Ertz was traded to the Arizona Cardinals during the 2021 season. He requested to be released in November last year, which was done.

The Lions had little depth at tight end after Brock Wright suffered a forearm injury Sunday in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Lions will be the visitors on Sunday against the 49ers of San Francisco, during the NFC championship game.

In 11 seasons in the NFL, Ertz has 709 receptions, 7,434 receiving yards and 46 touchdowns.
