The 28-year-old was taking part in training camp for the Queen City squad after getting a professional trial. His new agreement will earn him $840,630 in 2022-2023.
Aston-Reese had one goal and one assist in three preseason games with the Leafs. Last year, the American played for the Anaheim Ducks and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He had collected 15 points (5-10) in 69 games with both clubs.
Never drafted, the winger was hired by the “Pens” in March 2017, after his career at Northeastern University. He played 213 games with the Pennsylvania team before being traded to the Ducks last March.
