But his message also concealed a certain ambiguity as Mr. Deschamps hinted at the announcement of a definitive retirement from public life.

“It’s already time to say goodbye to you,” says the great 86-year-old artist. When good people retire, they retire to their land, water their flowers and write their memoirs. Me, I’m going to retire to the lands of Judi (Richards, his wife), I’m going to watch her water her flowers but I won’t write a memoir because I don’t have any. »

One of Mr. Deschamps’ daughters, Annie, added that her father “is doing very well” but that he asked to “permanently close this official account, even if it is the only one” and that his requests had to be respected. .

Mr. Deschamps has slowed considerably in recent years. In the summer of 2007, he returned to the stage and took part in the Just for Laughs galas as part of the 25and anniversary of the event.

More recently, he had to participate in the show When we love, we are always 20 years old with Jean-Pierre Ferland, Louise Latraverse and Clémence DesRochers at Place des Arts on September 21, 2021. But a bad fall by Mr. Deschamps had postponed the show to November 24. In December, he participated in the show Christmas at the Deschamps with his wife, his three daughters Annie, Karine and Sarah-Émilie. In the process, they also made a few appearances on TV.

On October 23, 2020, Yvon Deschamps had also publicly celebrated his 85and birthday (he was born on July 31, 1935) by holding a benefit show for the benefit of the Yvon Deschamps Centre-Sud foundation on the Yoop application.
