Yves-François Blanchet on tour in Paris, Edinburgh and Belfast

After staying in Catalonia last month, Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet is returning to tour Europe.

Mr. Blanchet will be visiting France, Scotland and Northern Ireland this week.

In Paris, he will meet former Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, who has a long-standing relationship with Quebec.

He will then travel to Edinburgh, the Scottish capital, where he will meet with pro-independence MPs and take part in a conference on self-determination at the University of Edinburgh.

The Bloc leader will end his trip in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. There he will meet MPs from the Sinn Féin party, who advocate the reunification of Ireland.

Mr. Blanchet traveled to Catalonia in early September to talk about independence, which sparked ridicule from conservative leader Pierre Poilievre.

“In Quebec, people are worried about the cost of living, the cost of gas, groceries and housing and what does Mr. Blanchet do? He’s in Spain! He is fighting for the sovereignty of Catalonia,” he told his activists gathered at a congress in Quebec.
