(Seattle) All-star southpaw Yusei Kikuchi will turn to another club after the Seattle Mariners declined their option.
Kikuchi shone in the first half of the season, before struggling thereafter.
In the first leg, the Japanese posted a 6-4 record and an average of 3.48, becoming the only Mariners player to be named an American All-Star.
He then lost his position in the rotation, posting a 1-5 record and an average of 5.98.
In three of his last four starts, Kikuchi hasn’t made it through the third inning.
Seattle also declined the contract option for third baseman Kyle Seager. The agreement will be compensated for $ 2 million.
Seager spent 11 years with the Mariners. He turned 34 on Wednesday.
In 2021, Seager set personal highs with 35 home runs and 101 RBIs. He only hit for .212, though.
