An unusual position for the second largest YouTuber in France. In a long message published on Instagram, Friday June 14, the videographer Squeezie calls on his subscribers to mobilize against the National Rally during the early legislative elections of June 30 and July 7.
In this “open letter” addressed “to all young people”on a network where he is followed by 8.7 million people, he recalls the past of the far-right party and affirms “that voting for a party that advocates hatred, discrimination, and fear of others has never been a solution, and never will be”.
“I never wanted to talk to you about politics and get into the party game, because everyone is the master of their convictions and I don’t want mine to influence yours,” writes the one who has 19 million subscribers on YouTube. “Whether you vote left, right, or center, that’s up to you and your ideas.”. And to add: “But I think that firmly opposing an extreme ideology that advocates hatred and discrimination goes beyond any political position”.
Jordan Bardella’s response was not long in coming. Still on Instagram, the president of the National Rally made a point of “restore truths”castigating the “multimillionaires responding to the very noble profession of influencers [qui] engage ‘apolitically’ against millions of French people.”
“We are witnessing in France the rise of a dangerous extreme left,” writes the RN candidate for the post of Prime Minister, before listing some measures from his party’s program, particularly in favor of purchasing power. He also puts forward hypotheses to explain this position taken by Squeezie, attributing it to his possible resentment of “being overtaken by Tibo InShape”who became the first YouTuber in France in May.
