Youssouf Fofana congratulated by his teammates after his equalizing goal against Greece, Tuesday November 21. (SIPA)

A senator’s train, for a disappointing draw. Dominant but not sharp enough, the Blues failed to win in Greece (2-2), Tuesday November 21. Youssouf Fofana, scorer for the equalizer, was the best Frenchman on the field, unlike Ousmane Dembélé, uninspired, and Lucas Hernandez, at fault on the Greek goals.

Brice Samba: 4/10

The Lens goalkeeper finished the match with no saves and two goals conceded, without being really at fault. He is masked on the first goal, and Ioannidis hits from close range on the second.

Jules Koundé: 4/10

Some interesting crosses, but he was not imperial in his defensive interventions. The striking image of his performance will remain his passivity against Dimitrios Giannoulis, who caught him on the second Greek goal. Replaced by Jonathan Clauss (64e).

William Saliba: 6/10

Often the last bastion to prevent the Greeks from approaching Brice Samba’s goal or to counter strikes. Precious in his interventions.

Lucas Hernandez: 3/10

Unfortunately involved in both Greek goals. It’s him who loses the ball which brings the first, then he is too wait-and-see on the second. Replaced by Axel Disasi (85e).

Theo Hernandez: 4/10

He touched a lot of balls but did not have the expected offensive impact, except on the first French hot opportunity (11e), while the game tilted in his favor.

Youssouf Fofana: 7/10

Paul Pogba tunes Tuesday evening. Omnipresent, he is the player who touched the most balls in this match (118). He is the author of a luminous opening for Antoine Griezmann (33e), and brought the Blues back to level with a superb long-range strike (74e). Valuable in recovery, he recalled that he was not just a name among the other midfielders.

Adrien Rabiot: 5.5/10

Metronome and vocal leader in midfield, he played his role as regulator. He often offers solutions and combines well with Antoine Griezmann.

Antoine Griezmann: 6/10

Captain since Kylian Mbappé was a substitute at the start of the match, he showed the way to his teammates with a shot which was heading into the top corner, pushed back by the Greek goalkeeper (15e), then touching the post (33e). Also valuable in his defensive interventions, he was less influential in the second period.

Ousmane Dembélé: 3/10

The Parisian winger made no difference and often dribbled backwards. He shoots at the goalkeeper (12e) then is warned for dispute (34e). Replaced by Kingsley Coman (64e).

Randal Kolo Muani: 5.5/10

His teammates had difficulty finding him for a long time and his pressing was ineffective, but he was sharper when he accelerated. Placed on the left, where he is rarely aligned, he made the difference when he found himself on the right, with a shot from a tight angle to open the scoring (42e) and score his first goal of the year with the Blues. Replaced by Kylian Mbappé (64e)decisive passer for Youssouf Fofana and author of a strike which failed on the crossbar (95e).

Olivier Giroud: 4/10

Very little influence offensively, he only touched two balls in the opposing area. He is still a decisive passer for Randal Kolo Muani. Replaced by Marcus Thuram (70e).
