“Your son under a sheet…” Death of Antoine Alléno at 24, his mother looks back on the evening of the tragedy

Antoine Alléno was 24 years old and had a bright future in gastronomy when he died suddenly after an accident caused by a repeat driver on May 8, 2022. His father, chef Yannick Alléno, and his family are trying to rebuild themselves after this tragedy which has traumatized their lives. This is done in particular by the desire to help those who have lost a loved one due to an act of violence or who have been victims of it. This September 20, the Alléno family is launching the association that bears the name of Antoine, while also unveiling a plaque in memory of their son and brother, rue Beaupassage, in Paris. This is where the young man ran the establishment Father & Son Burger. On this occasion, Antoine’s parents, Yannick and his ex-wife Isabelle, as well as their eldest son Thomas spoke to the media. Their emotion goes hand in hand with that which they arouse by returning to this tragedy which they overcome by working for good.

We are trying to catch our breath

In The Parisian, the ex-wife of Yannick Alléno, Isabelle, returned to the discovery of the death of her child. Heartbreaking words that make it possible to realize, a little bit, the horror that a parent goes through when he learns the worst. “Vou know when you are at the scene of the accident that your son is under a sheet. Then they put you in a fire truck. We make you wait. You then end up in a hospital where you are just handed a piece of paper with a phone number. We are trying to catch our breath. No one came to help us. We went home, alone“, says Antoine’s mother, Isabelle.

In Le Sunday newspaper, Yannick Alléno had also described the scene without much humanity that he experienced when he arrived at the hospital. “We were handed a piece of paper, the contact of a person in case we needed psychological support. And then that’s all. Not even a glass of water“, he confided, bitterly. Alone in the face of the unthinkable, Antoine’s parents then decided to found the Antoine Alléno association so that “people struck by such a tragedy benefit at least from an accompaniment worthy of the name“, we read in The Parisian. In addition, initiatives are being considered so that such tragedies do not happen again or that lessons are learned for “move the lines“. The ace of the stove wants to put his notoriety to transform his pain into positive actions.

It is therefore done, four months after the tragedy. They formalized the event on Tuesday and Chef Alléno’s Instagram post explains in detail this overwhelming approach, that of “offer victims under the age of 25, and their families, all the moral, psychological and financial support they need and let them know that they are no longer alone“.
