After having released the former elected representative of Saône-et-Loire, the Young people with Montebourg explain this Wednesday, November 10 that they do indeed support the presidential candidate. Only a few members of the collective have chosen to leave the ship after the controversial remarks of the former minister.
Three days ago, the Young for Montebourg announced to withdraw their support for the presidential candidate after his controversial remarks on the transfers of private money to countries which refuse to repatriate nationals affected by a deportation order in France. But now, this Wednesday, November 10, the collective affirms its commitment to the former president of the departmental council of Saône-et-Loire and is back on social networks.

In a press release, the Jeunes pour Montebourg explained that only part of the original collective made the choice to drop the candidate in the race for the Élysée Palace. “Their words are in no way representative of the young people mobilized in favor of Arnaud Montebourg”, explains the movement.
“The Young For Montebourg refuse that their will be counterfeited by a few”
The Jeunes pour Montebourg then reaffirmed their support for the former minister of productive recovery and saluted the mea culpa of the candidate who intends to carry and defend the interests of the left in the presidential election.
As a reminder, guest of the Grand Jury on Sunday, November 7, LCI’s political program, Arnaud Montebourg explained that he wanted to block private money transfers to the countries of origin of people affected by an expulsion measure from French territory. “We block all transfers as long as there is no reception of cooperation. These private money transfers are a godsend for these countries and today we need to say: enough is enough”, he had launched, before retracting therefore.
“The candidate has publicly explained that he would not support the aforementioned measure and that he recognized a clumsiness […] The honesty and humility of a candidate who listens and takes into account the emotion aroused by his statements should, rather than worry, reassure us about his ability to exercise power “, write the Jeunes pour Montebourg in their press release.
We know that an election campaign can be frustrating when the debate is alive, but some practices cannot be condoned.
Thus, the decision announced at the beginning of the week would only be the choice of a small fringe of the movement. A nucleus of a “ten people”, according to the collective, which would have withdrawn from the start of the campaign of the former elected representative of Saône-et-Loire. With their press release, the Jeunes pour Montebourg therefore hope to put an end to the controversy for good. As a reminder, their candidate is credited with 2.5 to 3% of voting intentions in the polls.
The movement also announces an internal reorganization with in particular a change of name and management in order to “to create a serene, shared and militant space”.
