Québec solidaire spokesperson Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois defended his plan to add a tax for citizens who have more than one million in assets, explaining that this measure will simply improve services for everyone, including the middle class.

“You spend a lot of time talking about the middle class, but the truth is, you don’t know the middle class. The average salary in Quebec is about $55,000 a year,” said Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.
The leader of the Coalition avenir Québec denounces the addition of a new tax.
“A person who has saved his whole life, who has bought a house. Today it doesn’t take long that it’s worth a million. This person, in addition to paying tax on the capital gain, will pay a tax of 35% when she wants to leave her house to her children. You will tax twice,” said Mr. Legault.
