Cauet who still proclaims his innocence and who deplores “there is a difference between the media trial which goes very quickly, and the justice to which we have given a lot of things” decided to file a report with Arcom, this December 11, 2023, the day after this interview.
In a press release, his lawyers, Xavier Autain and Sylvain Clemenceau explained, the day after this interview, that the continuous news channel had, according to them, committed a fault. In the text, we learn: “During the interview given yesterday by Sébastien Cauet to BFMTV, the channel decided to broadcast yesterday a montage of the exchange of messages attributed, by his accuser, to Sébastien Cauet, this without the most basic precautionnor respect for the presumption of innocence“.

And added: “Sébastien Cauet instructed his counsel to question Arcom (the audiovisual policeman, ex-CSA, editor’s note) on this distribution of documents falsified by BFM despite knowledge of their legal challenge and to consult the CDJM (Ethics Council journalistic and mediation, editor’s note) on theincriminated interview operated by the journalist Benjamin Duhamel”.
