Back in the France team for the first time in more than two years, the Angel City midfielder confided in Tout le Sport on Thursday.
It’s a comeback that many no longer believed in. Dismissed from the group of the France team by Corinne Deacon, and distant from the Blue since 2020, Amandine Henry has found, since Tuesday, in Clairefontaine, for her greatest happiness. Asked by Fabien Levêque on the program Tout le Sport, Thursday, June 22, she spoke of the memories that her return to the castle evoked. While she bluntly admits that her distance from the selection “wasn’t a very fun time“, she intends above all to take advantage of this opportunity: “I take it as a second chance.“
With the arrival at the helm of Hervé Renard, the former OL player also seems to have found a new mentor, who has given her the desire to surpass herself on the pitch: “From the first exchange, I already wanted to put on the France team jersey. You can die on the pitch for a coach like that.” And if she has not worn the blue jersey for a long time, she believes that her absence and her reasons will serve her for the future. “I think that’s going to be a strength going forward.”
