On the morning of Saturday, October 7, 2023, residents of Israel were roused from sleep by violence, as hundreds of rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip. Hamas initiated an operation called “Al-Aqsa Flood”. The Israeli military responded promptly, reporting that terrorists had infiltrated from Gaza by sea, air and land.
According to information from BFMTV, France Info And TF1, more than 5,000 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel. At least seventy people were shot and killed. Israel responded with aerial fire on Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted on social networks, saying that Hamas “will pay a high price for his war”. World leaders, meanwhile, expressed solidarity with Israel. The President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron reacted with reserve on social networks, strongly condemning the terrorist attacks and expressing his support for the victims and their families.

For too long has France kept the violence of the Israeli state and that of Palestinian armed groups back to back”, wrote Cyril Hanouna’s rival. Comments which provoked strong reactions.
