Since Thursday July 7, several hundred Californian firefighters have been trying to put out a gigantic blaze in the famous Yosemite park in the United States, which is home to nearly 500 of the largest sequoias in the world. It is visited by three million people every year. Tourists are now prohibited from entering through its southern part. Hotels were even evacuated.

For the time being, the huge conifers which can reach more than 60 meters in height have not been directly affected and are actively protected by park rangers. As a precaution, a majestic sequoia over 2,000 years old is permanently watered. California is in the grip of a chronic drought. But this year, the high temperatures are reaching record highs. One thousand acres of Yosemite Park have already been ravaged.
