Yin Ruoning wins the LPGA Championship

(Springfield Gardens) Ruoning Yin putt for a birdie from about 10ft on the final hole and became the second Chinese woman to win a Major, beating Yuka Saso by one stroke in the LPGA Championship on Sunday.

After Saso made a birdie before her on the 18e par-5 hole at Baltusrol to get tied for the lead, Yin found the long grass with his tee shot, then hit his third shot in a sweet spot and followed up on a putt.

The 20-year-old Yin finished with eight under par. She joined Shanshan Feng, who won this event in 2012, as the Chinese winner of a major women’s tournament. Feng is currently the coach of the Chinese national team.

Brooke Henderson was the top Canadian, finishing tied for 15e up to 2 strokes under par.

Rose Zhang, who won on her pro debut three weeks ago, also in New Jersey, finished tied for eighth, three strokes behind.

Xiyu Lin, who has led or shared the lead for most of his last nine days, found water with his number one wood at 18e holeshot and bogeyed to finish two shots behind Carlota Ciganda (64), Anna Nordqvist (65), Megan Khang (67) and Stephanie Meadow (70).

Leona Maguire finished four strokes behind.
