Yes, Michel Sardou was invited to Emmanuel Macron’s press conference

Just a few days after the appointment of Gabriel Attal as Prime Minister, Emmanuel Macron

spoke at a press conference this Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Following the resignation of Élisabeth Borne, the organization of the government changed. Thus, Rachida Dati succeeded Rima Abdul-Malak as Minister of Culture. Stéphane Séjourné, for his part, was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in place of Catherine Colonna. Furthermore, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra took over the reins of the Ministry of National Education.

Unfortunately, the politician already finds herself at the heart of a huge scandal. The reason ? The schooling of one’s children in a private Catholic school in the 6th arrondissement from Paris because “lots of hours not seriously replaced” in public establishments. A controversy to which the President of the Republic wanted to respond in a very funny way.

Michel Sardou quoted by Emmanuel Macron

“Me, I am a child of both schools, as the great authors say. I went to secular and private school under contract, I saw committed teachers to whom I owe a lot. So, I think there is no conflict between the two schools to be had.” Like our colleagues from Figaro noted, Emmanuel Macron consciously referred to Michel Sardou to defend his protégé. These are indeed the lyrics of the song The two schools, co-written with Pierre Delanoë, whom the Head of State cited.

At the time, the artist was strongly opposed to the Savary bill which aimed to unite public and private educational establishments. A project withdrawn by François Mitterand.
