His community has been waiting for his return for years. Or even a television appearance. But Jean-Jacques Goldman prefers to stay in the shadows, far from show business and notoriety. Many, however, hope that the 72-year-old artist drops by on the set of the star Academy. Show in which his son Michael serves as director. But at present this is only a pipe dream.
However, his fans can still benefit from his talent as a composer and author. Indeed, on November 3, 2023, cellist Gautier Capuçon released his new album Destination Paris. A project to which Jean-Jacques Goldman participated as the musician recalled with BFMTV
. It’s on the song Think of us that the 72-year-old artist offered his talent. A title performed by the children of the Orchester à l’école association and the masters of Radio France and Bondy.

Jean-Jacques Goldman “humble and simple” according to Gautier Capuçon
Big fan of Jean-Jacques Goldman since his childhood, Gautier Capuçon took his courage in both hands and directly contacted the artist. “I took my pen, I wrote to Jean-Jacques Goldman and I spoke to him about this project. I waited every day like a little boy for his response, and one day this response arrived”, he confided after our colleagues. The response from the main interested party is not really long in coming: “He said that this project touched him and that he agreed to compose this song”.
Following this first exchange Gautier Capuçon and Jean-Jacques Goldman stayed in touch by email and telephone before their joint project came to fruition during a meeting in London, during a concert by the cellist in the British capital. It is finally in April 2023 that the two artists will record the song Think of us with the children of the Orchester à l’école association and masters from Radio France and Bondy.
“I saw him hovering over the children’s shoulders, encouraging them with his kind gaze. It was a truly unique moment. […] I met an artist of immense humility and simplicity and I think that is also what touches everyone”remembered the musician, admiring the artist and the person that Jean-Jacques Goldman is.
