Yannick Nézet-Séguin extends his contract with the Philadelphia Orchestra

Montreal conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who won two trophies at the first Grammy ceremony on Sunday, has renewed his contract with the Philadelphia Orchestra until the end of the 2029-2030 season.


In addition to this four-year extension, he adds the title of artistic director to his function as musical director.

In interview with the New York Timesthe 47-year-old conductor likened his relationship with the orchestra to a “healthy and wonderful marriage”.

Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who is also music director of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, began his tenure as eighth music director of the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2012, working in particular to promote the music of unknown composers.
