Less than a year after the double triumph of Montreal producer Kaytranada, Quebec will once again be well represented at the Grammy evening thanks to the three quotes that each collected by Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Allison Russell.

The conductor is among the finalists for the best orchestral performance (Price: Symphonies Nos 1 & 3 with the Philadelphia Orchestra), Best Opera Recording (Poulenc: Dialogues of the Carmelites, with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra) and Best Classical Solo Vocal Album (Schubert: Winterreise, as pianist with opera singer Joyce DiDonato).
Despite three nominations in recent years, the renowned Quebec conductor is still looking for a first Grammy.
In the case of Allison Russell, a Montrealer who has lived in Nashville for a few years, it is the consecration, barely six months after the release ofOutside Child, his first album.

The nominations for Nézet-Séguin and Russell come in the wake of the sensational double signed by Kaytranada, recipient in the dance recording and dance-electronic album categories at the 2021 Grammy awards ceremony, on March 14.

Note that there are now ten finalists in the four main categories of recording of the year, song of the year, album of the year and best new artist.
Recording Academy boss Harvey Mason Jr explained the decision to increase the number of contenders from eight to ten due to the growth of music around the world.
