Matthieu Orphelin, spokesperson for environmental candidate for the presidential election Yannick Jadot and close to former minister Nicolas Hulot, accused of rape and sexual assault, was “withdrawn from his responsibilities”, announced campaign director Mounir Satouri . “The serenity necessary for the exercise of his functions is no longer possible following the revelations of the Special Envoy”, explains the ecological campaign team in a press release.
This is a reference to the new accusations against Nicolas Hulot, unveiled on France 2 Thursday, November 25. The EELV team therefore judged “opportune to release him from this responsibility [de porte-parole] and leave him free of his answers and his communication “.

The deputy defended himself in a statement, reaffirming that he did not “never covered the slightest reprehensible act of Nicolas Hulot and that my support is entire for these victims. (…) I know that Yannick Jadot does not question my sincerity.” He also explains that he wanted to leave his post for strategic differences before the end of the year.
