It’s a case that is likely to cause a lot of ink to flow… On December 9, the former swimmer Yannick Agnel was arrested as part of the opening of a judicial investigation for “rape and sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor”. The 29-year-old former Olympic champion is accused of having had a relationship with the daughter of his former coach, Naome Horter, then 13 years old, when he was 24. Facts which date back to 2016 and which would have started when of a New Year.
Heard by the courts, Yannick Agnel ended up recognizing the materiality of the facts, but he nevertheless disputes the idea of a constraint on his part. Dropped on all sides by his collaborators, the former swimming star was the target of harsh words from his former teammates in the France team. Since his release from police custody, the latter has been placed under judicial control and according to information from Paris Match, he “lives holed up in his Parisian apartment, dropped by his employers, France Info and France Télévisions”.
His novel canceled, he continues to write
A case that completely upset the plans of Yannick Agnel, who was also preparing to release a big project, as we learn from Paris Match, but everything fell through. The Arthaud publishing house has decided to cancel the publication of his novel The roots of the sun, which was scheduled for this month. Faced with this situation and for “drown the anxiety”the former champion has decided to resume writing.
Awaiting the continuation of the judicial investigation which continues, Yannick Agnel therefore lives cloistered at home. In this case, the native of Nîmes risks up to 20 years in prison.
Yannick Agnel remains presumed innocent of the charges against him until the final judgment of this case.
