For several decades, Yann Arthus-Bertrand has been observing the Earth and capturing in his lens shots that have gone around the world. The photographer is the guest of the 23h of Franceinfo.
The blue planet, he saw it change in several decades. And his evolutions, he shared them in several photo albums. A biography, titled Legacy, published by Editions de La Martinière, is devoted to the fight of his life. “The Earth is still beautiful“, notes Yann Arthus-Bertrand who nevertheless deplores “our oil addiction“.”When I made the movie Home, we were consuming 90 million barrels of oil a day. Today we consume 100 million“, he adds to this title.
“We see that a disaster in the Tonga Islands triggers an oil spill on the other side of the globe“, analyzes François Siegel, co-founder of the journal Tomorrow. In other words, a gigantic challenge is looming for the States which will have to reduce their fossil fuel emissions to achieve neutrality in the shortest timeframe.
