Every two weeks, a personality presents us with his ideas for ending the weekend in style.

Yanic Truesdale lives nine months a year in Los Angeles, but in the summer, it’s Montreal that it happens for the actor. His ideal summer is made up of a trip to Europe, a trip to the Eastern Townships, Piknic Électronik and bike rides.

Montreal, summer city

“Montreal in the summer is a very pleasant city. I’m happy to be able to attend various festivals, and to be able to dance in the middle of the afternoon at Piknic Électronik. Happiness ! I was already going there almost 20 years ago. In its early days, we had a real picnic, we drank and we danced for hours! I love strolling through the Jean-Talon market and coming back with lots of seasonal fruits and vegetables in my basket. I also like to receive friends in my garden for a BBQ, it’s really nice to live like that in the summer, outside. In Montreal, I find my friends. However, there are summers when I shoot. This was the case with the three seasons of the series Guys which I loved doing so much. It was great ! »

A trip to Europe

“An ideal summer is systematically made up of a one-month trip to Europe. I’m going to Croatia this summer. It will be shorter, 12 days, but I’m delighted. I have been around Europe several times and my favorite country is Greece. Mykonos island is my second home, I go to the same place year after year and I am very happy there. There are people from all over Europe, the sea, the sun, the beach, that’s what I need for my happiness, and Greece is perfect. I have visited other islands. I really like Milos, wilder, cheaper, quieter, very pretty. Santorini is a majestic island, unmissable, but very touristy, so I recommend going there out of season. I really like Spain for the open-mindedness of the Spaniards and Italy for its gastronomy. »

The bike

“It’s my hobby. I’m a guy from Plateau Mont-Royal and I’ve been cycling since I was little. I even opened a spinning studio in Montreal 10 years ago. Cycling is really important in my life. I’m still driving in Los Angeles and, frankly, it’s painful. So being able to get around Montreal by bike really changes my daily life. On my bike, I meet friends, I see people, I exercise while moving, I love it. When I was asked to be the spokesperson for the 13^e Parkinson Quebec Bike Challenge [au profit des personnes vivant avec la maladie de Parkinson], I immediately accepted, because I am a real cycling enthusiast, but also because I lost my mother last fall to Parkinson’s disease. I want to support the cause. »

The Eastern Townships

“Visiting my friends in the Townships is one of the classics of the summer. A must! I like to go to the countryside and particularly in the Eastern Townships. I visit my friends in Sutton, Bromont or near Lake Memphremagog. I’m going to spend the day at the Balnea spa, by the lake. It makes me feel good. I have friends who have boats. With a small bottle of rosé, a small picnic, we go on the water, we jump in the water and we enjoy the summer. As soon as you are on a boat with a small glass of rosé, you automatically feel on vacation! »

Arthouse cinema and summer readings

“I’m not going to see American blockbusters, but if there are French or European films coming out in theaters in the summer, I’m sure I’m going to go see them in theaters, because these kinds of films are no longer being released. in Los Angeles. Recently I saw The three Musketeers. There is also On the dark paths with Jean Dujardin… As for reading, my favorite author is Romain Gary. I participated in the show a few years ago Canada Reads on CBC and loved my experience. I had defended The leaky woman by Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette and I had read a phenomenal amount of books that year. But I can’t keep up the pace.
